Description:

Avionics bay coarse air filter cartridges are front-end filtration devices specially designed for the environmental control systems of civil aircraft avionics bays, used to remove solid particulate matter in cooling air inside avionics bays. Designed in accordance with aviation airworthiness standards, this product can intercept large pollutants with particle sizes of 5–10 μm and above. It features low initial pressure drop and long service life, serving as a key component to guarantee reliable operation of avionics equipment.

Core Technical Advantages:

Three-layer composite filter structure: The filter cartridge is composed of three layers of flame-retardant polyurethane foam including inner, middle and outer filter layers to form gradient filtration. The outer layer traps large dust particles and hair, the middle layer adsorbs medium-sized particles, and the inner layer ensures even airflow distribution, delivering high filtration efficiency and large dust holding capacity.

Aviation-grade flame retardancy: The filter media adopts flame-retardant polyurethane foam complying with FAR 25.853 aviation interior flammability standard to eliminate fire hazards.

All-metal frame support: Both inner and outer frames are manufactured by punching aluminum plates, rolling into cylinders and welding, with high strength, light weight and corrosion resistance.

Air purification for electronic control cabinets of special vehicles

Case & Data Verification

Avionics bay coarse air filter cartridges with flame-retardant polyurethane foam media and 5 μm filtration accuracy were supplied to a civil aviation maintenance company in Shenzhen. Under identical test conditions, the pressure drop generated by this coarse filter is half that of OEM parts, all reaching G4 average gravimetric efficiency grade. When maintaining the same average gravimetric efficiency, its dust holding capacity is nearly three times that of OEM filters.

FAQ:

Q1: Does this filter meet aviation flame retardant requirements?
A: Yes. The filter media is flame-retardant polyurethane foam satisfying FAR 25.853(a) vertical burn test requirements, which can self-extinguish within specified time after open flame is removed.

Q2: Is airworthiness approval required for the filter?
A: Filters installed on airworthy aircraft shall hold FAA-PMA or EASA certification or serve as OEM original parts. Our company can provide complete traceability documents and airworthiness approval certificates.

Q3: How to judge when the filter needs replacement?
A: Judgement mainly relies on monitoring the differential pressure across the filter. Replacement is required when the differential pressure doubles the initial value or exceeds the equipment alarm threshold. Periodic replacement can also be carried out during C-check or after specific flight hours in accordance with maintenance plans.
